Pressieport welcomes Patrick Francis Baby Wear Designs

We are delighted to have just started stocking a new range of baby clothing and babywear from Irish company, Patrick Francis.

Patrick Francis are a Dublin based design company who have been producing luxury clothing for over a generation. Traditionally known for their cashmere designs, they have also now developed a new line of baby clothing which is now available from Pressieport. We are always delighted to support Irish suppliers and designers, and in this case, even more so.

We know that these are going to be best-sellers because of their great quality, competitive pricing and, well, because we love their stuff!

First on the scene are the little boys' range of Ducky print booties and one-piece knitted suit. Just behind this, listed on the site only today are the baby girls range of pink frilly dress and matching pink booties.

Baby Boom!

I read in the paper the other day that we are in the middle of a Baby Boom in Ireland and I would certainly believe it! Apparently we're trending as much as 5-6% ahead of predicted numbers of births and have been for the last number of years. This certainly explains why our most popular item this Summer has been the Travelling High Chair! Lots of babies and toddlers went on holidays this year and were able to sit comfortably with the adults on a 'Big' chair.

Of course, Baby Boom also means lots of new arrivals - and I can see the proof of that with all my friends. There is a procession of new arrivals, each one cuter and pinker than the one before. That's where our baby gift range is so handy - all sorts of lovely gifts at all price ranges and overnight delivery as well or same day if you live in Dublin! It couldn't be easier.

First The Stork, Then Pressieport!

The speed with which new mums leave hospital these days means they are often longer in the labour ward than anywhere else! Getting to see the new arrival is then a tricky one to handle. Do you dash in straightaway to see the poor mother looking shell-shocked and the baby in the middle of the 'green emissions' stage (and that has nothing to do with greenhouse gases!)? Or do you give them a 'few days' in which case they have been kicked out of the hospital and the new parents are in sleep deprivation mode, their lives controlled by The Twelve Inch Tyrant who seems to require minimal sleep and maximum yowling to keep going? They can barely see you let alone have a chat or make a cup of coffee. Not to mention the danger that they might ask you to hold the baby for a few minutes - or as I have frequently found, decide to discuss in detail the nappy contents of the new arrival as they offer you a chocolate biscuit...

And of course, then there's the gift dilemma. Do you risk buying an outfit for less than 12 months in the hopes that you will get to see the child in the first year? Perhaps it's better to send a 'My First Year' memento gift, so that when you do get to see the Little Mary or Tommy there is at least a record of that first year for you to admire?

Well, we've been faced with this dilemma so often at Pressieport (many fertile friends!) that we decided to at least solve the present-buying issue. We now have same day delivery in Dublin. So, whether you buy the 0-6 Johnny Socks or the Nappy Cake (3-6months) or the My First Year Photo frame, you can be sure it will arrive while the child is still in the right age bracket.

As for visiting the little darlings - well, you'll have to solve that dilemma yourselves. (21st Birthday invitations anyone?)

Baby Food Cubes

One thing that always surprises me at Pressieport is what is popular and what isn't. We thankfully get it right more often than not, but sometimes, things do catch us by surprise. Baby Cubes are one such gift.

Not having any need for these myself, I probably didn't realise how practical these little accessories to mums around the country. Baby Cubes are a neat and tidy way of organising and storing baby food in the fridge or the freezer.
